Frequently asked questions

What information does a WHOIS lookup show?
Registrar name, creation and expiry dates, name servers, domain status codes (e.g. clientTransferProhibited), and the full raw WHOIS record returned by the registry.
Why is some owner information missing or redacted?
Most registrars redact personal registrant details (name, email, address) by default under privacy regulations like GDPR — this is normal and not a limitation of the lookup itself.
Does this work for every domain extension (TLD)?
It works for the vast majority of common TLDs, though the exact fields returned can vary slightly between registries since each one formats its raw WHOIS record a little differently.
Is the domain I search logged or stored?
No. The lookup is only used to fetch and display the result for you — nothing is saved, and no account is needed.
Do I need to install anything or sign up?
No. It runs entirely in your browser and our server — no software install, no account, no email required.
